Language Workshop
This week we have started learning about maps. We learned about a key or legend and the cardinal directions (north, south, east, and west). We used a compass rose to put the directions in order. Then the students had a chance to make their own maps!

Math Workshop
We started Topic 7 this week “Counting and Number Patterns to 120.” We have practiced making numbers from 11 to 19, counting by 10s to 120, and counting on a hundreds chart.
|
Writing Workshop
We have continued to work on our narratives. We have discussed using transition words (first, next, then, last, etc.) and adding detail to our writing. The narratives will be used as an assessment.
|
Word Study
This week we focused on the words that, thing, and children. We learned a lot about digraphs (ch, sh, th, wh, and ph) and practiced finding them in our reading. Next week we will focus on the words all, call, after.

Next Week
Next week we will continue learning about maps and take our assessment. In Math, we will continue on with Topic 7 by skip counting and looking for patterns. For writing, we will finish up our narratives. They have enjoyed writing about a trip they took, an ouch story, best or worst day, and “how to” do something.
