Watch D.O.G.S.

This year we started the Watch D.O.G.S. program in grades K-4.  Watch D.O.G.S. stands for Dads Of Great Students.  We want to send a huge thank you to Brian Griffin, our Top Dog, for leading this endeavor and to our Clever PTA for purchasing the start-up kit and providing pizza for our kick-off.  Watch D.O.G.S. includes dads, uncles, grandfathers and other male role models who spend a day (or more) volunteering in our school.  We put these dads to work and they helped with tutoring, circle drive duty, recess duty, cafeteria duty and kindergarten screening.  Mr. Griffin also had a float in the annual Christmas Parade representing this program and was at the 12 Annual Clever Bands Car and Truck Show .  We will be having another pizza night in the fall for those who are interested in learning more about the program.

1st Grade News and Information

Wow!  What a busy week we have had.  It is hard to believe these kiddos are almost 2nd graders!

This Week:  In Math we finished up and tested on our unit on telling time--everyone did a great job!  In writing, we had an assessment on opinion writing where the students used the writing process to write  about their favorite recess activity.  Also, we spent a lot of time this week researching more about tornados and working on projects to show what we learned.

Next Week:  Next week we will finish up our tornado projects and share.  We will spend time reviewing the math and reading skills we have learned this year.  We will also make Memory Books as a fun way to remember our year.
