Language Workshop
This week we learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  We compared facts that we read in books to facts that we found online.  We also learned how to make singular nouns plural by adding -s or -es to the end.
Math Workshop
We started Topic 8-- “Tens and Ones” this week.  We have been working on counting groups of 10 and leftovers and writing numbers with 10s and 1s.  Please continue to practice working on basic addition and subtraction facts at home.
Writing Workshop
This is our final week to work on narratives.  The students picked a topic and wrote a story using the writing process.  Each piece needed to include a bold beginning, excellent ending, and transition words.  This piece of writing will be used as an assessment.
Word Study
This week we focused on the word school, good, and father.  We finished up assessments on digraphs and reading words that end with a silent final -e. Next week we will review the words we have been working on.
Next Week
Next week we will begin our unit on plants.  In Math, we will continue Topic 8, “Tens and Ones”.  For writing, we will learn to write a “How to” story.
