Class pictures are available for $2.  Please send in you money in an envelope marked class picture.  I will send home class pictures as they are paid for.

News and Information

Language Workshop
This week we started our PBL on weather. We read Freddy the Frogcaster to learn how meteorologists use weather clues to predict the weather.
Math Workshop
This week we worked on Topic 11 Subtracting With Tens and Ones. We practiced subtracting by using a hundred chart, mental math, and drawing a picture.  
Writing Workshop
This week we started learning about opinion writing. We are learning how to state our opinion, use reasons to support it, and then restate our opinion.
Word Study
Our words for next week are: feet, eat, it’s, over, put, read, saw, very, little

Please practice reading and spelling these words at home.
Next Week
In math, we will start learning about telling time. We will continue our Project Based Learning (PBL) with weather. In writing, we will continue our opinion writing.

Important Dates
April 25 Make-A-Wish Night at the Ballfield
April 27/28 Kindergarten Screening (if you have a child entering kindergarten next year, call the office to schedule a sreening time)
May 16  Last day of school.  Dismiss at 11:00.

News and Information
  • Monday is our Field Trip, please make sure your child wears tennis shoes and comfortable clothes.  Don’t forget to send their lunch (unless they ordered a sack lunch from the cafeteria)

  • Art Night is just around the corner.  We are needing volunteers.  If you would be available to help please go to the volunteer link:  https://goo.gl/J575Zh
  • On Saturday, April 15th they are having a Make-A- Wish party for Mason Guccione at the Clever Fire Station from 3-6.
  • Next Week we will be having a SPIRIT WEEK for Caden, our Make-A-Wish recipient, who wants to go to Hawaii!  Pay $1 or more each day to participate. Each $1 will earn a ticket for the prize drawing which will be held on Friday.

Language Workshop
This week we continued our author study on Kevin Henkes. We read the stories Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse and A Weekend with Wendell.  We learned about prefixes.  We talked about re-, un-, and pre-.  
Math Workshop
This week we started Topic 11- Subtracting with Tens and Ones.  We are learning how to subtract using the hundreds chart and to regroup to subtraction.  
Writing Workshop
This week we started our informational writing assessment. They wrote on their own using the writing process. They were expected to write a topic sentence, 3 facts, and conclusion.
Word Study
We used our word study time to finish up our handwriting and extra writing time. We also caught up on things that we have not finished.

Next Week
We will continue Topic 11- Subtracting with Tens and Ones. We will start our Project Based Learning (PBL) project with weather. We will become weather experts for our school. It will be our job to inform our school community about severe weather and how to be be safe in case severe weather strikes.
