Language Workshop
This week we read Sounds All Around.  We collected some new facts about sound. We also used our book to look for verbs. Ask your child what is a verb? We have done lots of verb practice this week.
Math Workshop
This week we started Module 2. We focused on adding three numbers by finding two numbers that equal 10. We also added two numbers with sums greater than 10.  We worked on making a ten to help us add.
Writing Workshop
We began our next informational writing piece. Students chose what animal they wanted to research and write about. We started with our research. We took notes and began our prewriting.
Word Study
Group A worked on -sc, -sn, and -sw word families.  Group B worked on -j, -h, and -ch word families.
Next Week
Next week we will finish up our unit on sound by planning and making our own instruments. We will review verbs and take an assessment over them. In writing, we will continue to work on our individual informative writing.  Next week we will focus on blends, digraphs, and silent e words.
