Children's Grief Awareness Day Tomorrow....Wear a Hat for $1

DID YOU KNOW?
  • 1 in 20 children experience the death of a parent before the age of 18.
  • Children with unresolved grief are 9 times more likely to drop out of High School.

What can we do to help?
Thursday, November 17th is Children’s Grief Awareness Day.  We are asking each of you to WEAR BLUE to support Grieving Children.

For a $1 donation to Lost & Found Grief Center in Springfield, students can also wear a hat on Thursday, November 17th.

Grief is a natural reaction to death for children as well as adults. It is about so much more than sadness. Grieving children walk around carrying their worries like a heavy backpack, waiting for someone to help them unload those feelings. The painful emotions they carry every day is exhausting.

Grief doesn't go away just because you want it to. The opportunity to be in a group with other children who have experienced a loss helps prevent unresolved grief. Lost & Found Grief Center provides grief support services, at no charge, in a safe and supportive environment for children, young adults, and their families grieving the death of a loved one. Every person deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment.t
